Our History
There was never one standout moment when Doist officially became Doist. Technically, Doist was always there, but it was there in the background. The name was peppered in our app’s legal jargon, on our monthly invoices, and alongside the copyright symbol in our website’s footer.
Despite Doist’s relative anonymity, even amongst its own team, there was always a strong force tying everyone together. We were unified by our motivation to build outstanding products that improve people’s lives. We were proud of our ability to make remote work actually work, and that we were doing so independently. And, most importantly, we truly believed in Amir’s mission to solve fundamental problems that affect modern people and organizations across all cultures and places.
It wasn’t until the first company retreat in 2015 that the concept of Doist truly started to come to life. Many of the team members, having worked together for several years, met each other in-person for the very first time. There, the camaraderie and bonding solidified what it meant to be a Doister.
As time passes and as the Doist team grows, our commitment to creating a long-lasting legacy deepens. We’re running a marathon, not a sprint, and we know that achieving our goal requires many more years of dedicated work. We will continue to champion the remote-first cause while building a company whose two cornerstones are ambition and balance.
We don’t have an exit strategy–we have a mission to empower people for decades to come.
